In the early morning hours of October 26, 2025, the life of 24-year-old Christapher Mays was cut short in a fatal shooting on the near north side of Indianapolis. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 3600 block of North Illinois Street shortly after 4 a.m. following a report of a person shot.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Mays suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity.
