In the early morning hours of October 29, 2025, the life of 26-year-old Malcolm W. Moore, a Black male, was tragically cut short. Police were called to the 1400 block of East Tanners Creek Road in Norfolk, Virginia, around 1:00 a.m. following reports of a gunshot disturbance. Upon arrival, officers discovered Moore suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Though the shooting occurred in Norfolk, Moore was a resident of Virginia Beach. He was a graduate of Tallwood High School and was employed at a Virginia ABC store while pursuing his dream of becoming a Merchant Seaman. Described by his family as a beautiful soul with an infectious smile, he was known for his calm nature and pure heart. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend who had the gift of making everyone he met feel special. His family was the light of his life, and he was the light of theirs.
Detectives with the Norfolk Police Department are actively investigating Moore's death as a homicide.
