In the autumn of 2025, a welfare check requested on a Sunday evening led to a grim discovery in a Northeast Washington, D.C. residence. On October 5th, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District entered a home in the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast, to find 33-year-old Maurisha Singletary fatally shot.
