In the early morning hours of July 5, 2025, the life of Daquane 'Dream' Johnson, a 28-year-old Black transgender woman, was tragically cut short in Washington, D.C. Just before 1 a.m., officers on patrol were flagged down in the 2000 block of Benning Road, Northeast, where they found Johnson unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
