In the autumn of 2015, the life of a promising 36-year-old female architect, Desiree Cooper, was tragically cut short in what police determined to be a murder-suicide. She had relocated to Washington, D.C., about a year prior, purchasing and renovating a rowhouse on Tennessee Avenue NE, embracing the city as her new home where she was known for her active lifestyle that included running marathons and volunteering.
