Xzavier Gregory, 16, male, Hispanic/Latino, was shot in the chest on the afternoon of Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Philadelphia’s Rhawnhurst neighborhood and could not be saved. Officers were called at 3:54 p.m. to Frontenac and Teesdale streets, where they found him unresponsive; he was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
An 18-year-old woman was also struck—hit in the ankle—and was found at a nearby laundromat on the 1700 block of Glendale Avenue; she was taken to the same hospital and listed in stable condition. Gregory was a student at Northeast High School, and his killing rattled the community that gathered in grief in the days that followed.
By Monday, October 13, homicide detectives and a SWAT team had arrested 17-year-old Sahhir Mouzon at a home on the 1800 block of Corlies Street. Police said Mouzon was charged with murder, recklessly endangering another person, and violations of the Uniform Firearms Act. Others present during the arrest were taken in for questioning, but no additional charges had been filed as of those reports. Local officials later confirmed the arrest at a district advisory council meeting and noted that Gregory had been discovered shortly before 4 p.m. at the scene. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to piece together how an apparent dispute among teenagers flared into gunfire that left a young life cut short.
