In the quiet community of Kents Store, Virginia, a Sunday evening was shattered by violence that ended the life of Marcus Allen Vargas. The 30-year-old male was fatally shot on May 18, 2025. Authorities were first alerted to a disturbance in the 3000 block of Kents Store Way at approximately 6:15 p.m.
Upon their arrival, deputies from the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office discovered Vargas deceased at the scene, having sustained a gunshot wound.
The initial investigation pointed to the incident being a domestic disturbance. Believing it to be an isolated event, law enforcement assured the public that there was no ongoing risk to the community. Vargas's body was subsequently transported to the state medical examiner's office in Richmond for an autopsy as part of the continuing investigation.
In connection with the shooting, authorities arrested 25-year-old Zhamere Llada Ross. Ross has been taken into custody and is facing a homicide charge for his alleged involvement in Vargas's death. The Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office has acknowledged the assistance of the Louisa County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police in the investigation. Authorities have encouraged anyone with further information to come forward and speak with the Investigations Section of the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office.
