On a summer evening in Petersburg, Virginia, the life of 38-year-old Jamar Wilson was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded on the night of August 12, 2025, when gunfire broke out in the 400 block of Terrace Avenue. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered two men who had been shot. One of them was Jamar Wilson.
Both Wilson and the other injured man were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Wilson's injuries were described as life-threatening.
A few days later, on August 14, 2025, Jamar Nathaniel Wilson died from the wounds he sustained in the shooting. His death was officially announced by police the following Monday.
The second man injured in the shooting was identified as 25-year-old Keniard Deonta Sarcez Watson. Following an investigation, authorities charged Watson in connection with Wilson's death. The charges brought against him included first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a violent felon. Law enforcement officials have indicated that they are not searching for any other individuals in relation to this incident.
