In the late hours of a Thursday evening in Boston, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a Roxbury neighborhood, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. Teo Vernice, a 21-year-old Black/African American male from Hyde Park, was fatally shot on June 19, 2025. The incident unfolded around 10:01 PM in the vicinity of 163 Ruthven Street.
Responding to a call for a person shot, Boston police officers arrived to find Vernice outside, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Preliminary investigations suggest the shooting may have occurred inside a vehicle which then crashed at the scene. Emergency medical services rushed Teo to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
