On a quiet Sunday evening in Petersburg, Virginia, the life of a beloved community member was tragically cut short. Steve Wesson, a 60-year-old retired city employee, was on the front porch of his Shore Street home on October 2, 2016, when an altercation broke the peace of the neighborhood. The dispute escalated, and the sound of at least one gunshot rang out. When police arrived at the scene around 9 p.m., they discovered Wesson suffering from a gunshot wound.
