Zanir Childs, 18, a Black male from Brooklyn, was shot on a spring Saturday night in East New York and never made it home. Just before 10 p.m. on May 17, 2025, gunfire erupted along New Jersey Avenue near Linden Boulevard, across from P.S. 36. First responders found him with a wound to the torso; an 18-year-old woman nearby had been struck in the arm.
