In the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn, a young life was cut short on the night of May 17, 2025. Zanir Childs, an 18-year-old male, was fatally shot in an incident that also left an 18-year-old woman injured. The shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. in front of a residence on New Jersey Avenue, across the street from a public school playground.
