In the early morning hours of July 28, 2025, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn quiet in the parking lot of Ferry Point Park in the Bronx, leaving two young men fatally wounded. One of the victims was Adam Waldropt, a 29-year-old male resident of the Bronx. The other victim was identified as 22-year-old Gabriel Alvarez of Stratford, Connecticut.
The attack occurred shortly after 5:35 a.m.
when two masked individuals on scooters reportedly approached and opened fire on Waldropt and Alvarez. Waldropt sustained gunshot wounds to the abdomen and buttocks. Emergency services responded and transported both men to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition, where they later succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead. At the scene, investigators found 13 shell casings and five live rounds.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and it is not known if the victims were specifically targeted. The gunmen, who were wearing ski masks, fled the scene on a moped and have not been captured.
In the days following the double homicide, the New York Police Department announced they were seeking seven individuals in connection with the crime and released descriptions of them. The wanted individuals are described as six males and one female. They were seen driving a black 2012 Nissan Sentra. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Friends and family of the victims gathered to mourn their loss, leaving flowers and candles at the scene of the shooting. The incident was the second shooting in the same desolate area within two days, prompting calls for increased police presence and the installation of surveillance cameras.
