In the early morning hours of April 15, 2024, in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx, a burst of gunfire shattered the predawn stillness outside a McDonald's on East 149th Street and Morris Avenue. When the violence ceased, 24-year-old Adrian Mendoza lay grievously wounded. He had been struck by six bullets in his head and body.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and transported Mendoza to Lincoln Hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. Another man, 31-year-old Jhombeyker Bisbal, was also shot during the incident. Bisbal was hit in the torso and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The brazen shooting drew immediate attention from the New York Police Department. Detectives began an investigation into the events that led to the deadly encounter. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to search for those responsible for Adrian Mendoza's death and the wounding of Jhombeyker Bisbal.
