In the early morning hours of April 15, 2024, in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx, a burst of gunfire shattered the predawn stillness outside a McDonald's on East 149th Street and Morris Avenue. When the violence ceased, 24-year-old Adrian Mendoza lay grievously wounded. He had been struck by six bullets in his head and body.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and transported Mendoza to Lincoln Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, his injuries proved to be too sever ...
