On the morning of November 7, 2014, a tragic discovery was made in a residential neighborhood on the east side of Detroit, Michigan. Authorities were called to the scene at approximately 6:00 a.m. after reports of a vehicle fire at 5243 Beaconsfield, located between Frankfurt and Southampton streets near the intersection of East Warren and Alter Road. Upon extinguishing the flames, first responders found the body of a Black / African American female inside a pickup truck. The victim was subsequently identified as 33-year-old Caron Walton.
The circumstances surrounding Walton’s death were harrowing, as her body had been burned inside the vehicle, complicating the initial investigation. Family members later revealed that Walton had been expected home the previous night to prepare for a scheduled court appearance, but she never arrived. Her sudden disappearance and the brutal nature of the crime left her loved ones devastated. Walton was a mother of three children and was described by her cousin as a woman full of ambition and talent who was known for her generosity.
In the months following the incident, the case remained active but unsolved. By May 2015, Crime Stoppers of Michigan held a press conference with Walton’s grieving family, appealing to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest. A cash reward was offered for tips revealing the identity of the person or persons responsible. Despite these efforts, public records do not indicate that any suspects have been charged or convicted in connection with her murder, and the case is listed in cold case databases as unsolved.
