James Gaines, 46, a male, was shot in the neck outside his apartment building near East 164th Street and Washington Avenue in the Morrisania section of the Bronx on the evening of August 22, 2025. Police from the 42nd Precinct responded around 5:51 p.m. to a 911 call and found James Gaines, 46, wounded at the intersection; Emergency Medical Services rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.
