In the early morning hours of July 30, 2021, a gathering in the Pelham Gardens neighborhood of the Bronx turned tragic, forever altering the lives of those present. Keith Holden, a 54-year-old man from Manhattan, was attending a party on Gun Hill Road when violence erupted. A single gunshot to the face left him critically injured. In the chaotic moments that followed, his body was reportedly dragged outside the building before emergency services were alerted.
First responders arrived at
1326 E. Gun Hill Road at approximately 4:52 a.m. to find Holden lying on his back with a severe gunshot wound. He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he fought for his life for more than a week. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Keith Holden succumbed to his injuries on August 8, 2021, just weeks before he would have turned 55. His death was ruled a homicide, sparking an investigation and a public plea from his loved ones for an end to gun violence.
The New York Police Department quickly identified a suspect in the fatal shooting. They publicly named 40-year-old Jabal Gordon of Chester, New York, as the individual wanted in connection with Holden's murder. In October 2021, Gordon was apprehended and taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon for his alleged role in the death of Keith Holden.
