In a quiet Baton Rouge neighborhood, the life of 79-year-old Leah Buller came to a tragic end in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide. On the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2025, family members discovered the bodies of Leah and her 85-year-old husband, Donald Buller, inside their home on Boone Drive.
Investigators from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office determined that Donald Buller, a retired Baton Rouge Police captain, shot his wife before turning the gun on
himself. The incident left friends and the community searching for answers. No motive for the tragic event has been publicly released.
Leah Theresa Baron Buller, was born on September 27, 1945. She was a veteran of the United States Army, having served honorably after graduating from high school. Her career after the military included administrative roles in the bankruptcy court and the medical field. She was remembered by loved ones as a kind individual who consistently put the needs of others before her own.
Her life was deeply rooted in her family. She was a devoted wife to Donald for over 56 years, and a loving mother to their two daughters. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, often welcoming them home with one of her renowned meals. A woman of faith, she was an active member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.
