In a heartbreaking turn of events, 15-year-old Myasia Johnson, a female from Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on June 13, 2025, after sustaining a life-threatening gunshot wound. The incident that led to her untimely death occurred on the evening of June 12, 2025, in a residence on the 700 block of North Avenue NE.
According to reports from the Grand Rapids Police Department, officers responded to a call at approximately 11:35 p.m. and discovered Johnson inside the home with a severe gunshot wound. She was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries the following morning. The community mourned the loss of the young girl, who was remembered by her family for her beautiful smile and her love for dancing, music, and doing hair.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to a person of interest being taken into custody. Subsequently, the Grand Rapids Police Department announced that a 15-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with Johnson's death.
