On a late summer afternoon in Modeste, Louisiana, a dispute over parking fees at a trail ride event escalated into a fatal encounter for Brandon Cayette, a 40-year-old man from Donaldsonville. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, August 2, 2025, near the Sportsman Lounge on Highway 405, ended with Cayette being shot multiple times. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
