In the early morning hours of June 2, 2022, the quiet of a Donaldsonville, Louisiana neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Responding to a call of shots fired on West 8th Street at approximately 12:30 a.m., deputies from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office arrived to a grim scene. There, lying face down outside a residence, they discovered the body of 54-year-old Bruce Miles, a resident of the city. It was immediately apparent that he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
