In the late hours of a Tuesday evening in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, the life of 24-year-old Ryheme DeQuincy Stevenson was tragically cut short. On December 15, 2020, deputies from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the corner of St. Vincent and Sixth Streets around 11 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Stevenson's body in the 700 block of Sixth Street.
A native and resident of Donaldsonville, he was known for enjoying time with his friends and family and living life to the fullest.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led authorities to identify several individuals believed to be involved. A few days after the incident, on a Friday, 19-year-old Kamryn Dantoni was taken into custody. Dantoni was subsequently charged with principal to second-degree murder for his alleged role in the events that led to Stevenson's death. The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office announced that their investigation was ongoing and that more charges could be pending as they continued to piece together the circumstances of the fatal shooting.
While one arrest was made, detectives were actively searching for two other men in connection with the homicide. Warrants were issued for 21-year-old Jermaine Jackson and 21-year-old Dwayne Junior. Both were wanted on serious charges, including second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, and aggravated criminal damage to property. Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jackson and Junior to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation into the death of Ryheme Stevenson.
