In the summer of 2013, the life of 19-year-old Brisecon Jasmine was tragically cut short. A resident of Donaldsonville, Louisiana, and a student at White Castle High School, he was fatally wounded in a shooting on July 14th at the Dville Village Apartments. The gunshot wound to his head proved to be a devastating injury, and he succumbed to his wounds two days later, on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
The investigation into the
young man's death led to a series of arrests as law enforcement worked to bring those responsible to justice. In the days following the shooting, a number of individuals were taken into custody. Among them were Jakil Jones, 21, Max Batiste, 22, Trevel Dunn, 20, and Saquan Sullivan, who was 17 at the time. The investigative efforts continued, leading to the apprehension of four more suspects.
Further arrests included 19-year-old Andre Dunn and another 19-year-old, Chandon 'Tonka' Nelson, along with two juveniles whose identities were not publicly released. The charges brought against this group varied. Andre Dunn faced the most severe charge of second-degree murder for his alleged role in the shooting. Nelson and the two underage suspects were charged with principal to second-degree murder, indicating their alleged involvement in the crime that led to Jasmine's untimely death.
