William Denard Askew, 33, a Black man, was shot and killed on the night of July 25, 2025, in the unincorporated section of Laurel, Maryland. Just after 10:20 p.m., officers responded to the 13200 block of Laurel Bowie Road and found him in the roadway with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Askew, who lived in Greenbelt, had been heading home from work that evening, according to early reports.
