On May 16, 2007, at approximately 8:32 p.m., 45-year-old Lionel Demetrius Lindsay was fatally shot in the 8800 block of Hawthorne Lane in Laurel, Maryland. Lindsay, a resident of the 200 block of Bates Street NW in Washington, D.C., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, on May 18, 2007, 31-year-old Eviaya Quarles, residing in the same block on Hawthorne Lane, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and possession of a handgun in connection with Lindsay's death. The
