In the pre-dawn hours of August 24, 2025, the vibrant streets of New Orleans' French Quarter were shattered by gunfire, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. Darnell Causey, a 23-year-old male, was found at the intersection of Royal and Iberville streets with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency services rushed him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later confirmed that Causey's death was a homicide resulting from the shooting.
The New Orleans Police Department launched an investigation into the killing. Within days, their efforts led them to identify a suspect: 43-year-old Michael Hall, a Black male. Investigators with the NOPD Homicide Section positively identified Hall as the perpetrator and secured a warrant for his arrest on a charge of second-degree murder.
As of early 2026, Michael Hall remains at large. The New Orleans Police Department has publicly requested assistance in locating him, circulating his photograph and details of the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information on Hall's whereabouts to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.
