On April 3, 2012, Kermit "Pete" Hartzog, aged 27, was tragically shot and killed in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kermit's death occurred during a time when New Orleans was grappling with a high rate of violent crime, and his homicide remains part of a troubling pattern of violence in the city. Despite the efforts of local law enforcement to investigate the case, it remains unsolved, adding to the numerous cold cases in New Orleans that have yet to find resolution.
