On a January evening in New Orleans, the life of 19-year-old Kareem Harris was tragically cut short in a brazen act of violence that spilled into a historic local landmark. The young man, a male, was being pursued by a gunman when he sought refuge inside the famed Dooky Chase's Restaurant. The assailant followed him into the foyer and opened fire, killing Harris and injuring three bystanders who were waiting for a table.
The shooting, which was captured on video, sent shockwaves through the city due to its location and disregard for the lives of others. The restaurant itself was not the target, but rather became the final scene in a targeted attack.
