In the early morning hours of Friday, July 18, 2025, the life of 54-year-old Carl Jackson, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. Responding to a call around 4 a.m. in the 1600 block of Moore Court in the Algonquin neighborhood, Louisville Metro Police officers discovered Jackson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to UofL Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries just after 6 a.m. the same morning.
The Jefferson County Coroner's office later confirmed that the cause of death was gunshot wounds.
Known to his loved ones as "Boo," Carl Lamont Jackson was born in Louisville on July 8, 1971. A graduate of Valley High School, he was remembered for his quick wit and infectious laugh. He was a laborer who had held various jobs and was a dedicated family man who especially cherished his role as a grandfather. His passing left a void in the lives of his wife, mother, children, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Hours after the fatal shooting, the Louisville Metro Police Department announced an arrest in connection with Jackson's death. Forty-five-year-old Antonio Whaley was taken into custody and is facing multiple felony charges, including murder, two counts of wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Following his arrest, Whaley was booked at Metro Corrections to await arraignment.
