In the early morning hours of September 10, 2014, the life of 23-year-old Chauncey Delray Miles, a male from Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. Just before 4:30 a.m. in west Louisville, on Hazel Street near the intersection of 31st Street and W. Broadway, Miles was shot once in the chest. The single gunshot wound proved to be fatal, ending the young man's life in a sudden act of violence.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed towards a suspect.
According to police records, a witness identified 30-year-old Dante Stone as the individual who fired the fatal shot. Based on this eyewitness testimony, a warrant for Stone's arrest was issued just two days after the incident, on September 12, 2014. The search for the alleged gunman concluded late Wednesday night, a week after the shooting, when Dante Stone was taken into custody by Louisville authorities. He was subsequently charged with the murder of Chauncey Delray Miles.
