In the early hours of July 20, 2025, 15-year-old male Luis Jocsan Nanez Lopez was found mortally wounded inside a home on West Sun Street in Morehead, Kentucky. Officers responding around 2:30 a.m. discovered two juveniles with gunshot wounds; Luis Jocsan Nanez Lopez, age 15, was pronounced dead at the scene while a younger sibling was rushed first to UK–St. Claire Regional Medical Center and then to UK Hospital in Lexington.
