In the early evening of a warm summer day, the courtyard of the Regency Park Indy apartments on Indianapolis's south side was shattered by the sound of gunfire. On June 26, 2025, around 7:30 p.m., police responded to a call in the 5600 block of Rue Royale and discovered 22-year-old Montrell Austin in the parking lot, gravely wounded from a gunshot.
