In the summer of 2025, a life was tragically cut short in Carrollton, Georgia, when 46-year-old Tyrone Boykin was killed. On the afternoon of July 18th, the sound of gunfire shattered the peace on Magnolia Street. When police arrived, they discovered Boykin lying wounded in a nearby yard, having been shot in the chest. He was rushed to a local medical center, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a group of teenagers.
It's believed that the confrontation stemmed from a dispute over a stolen firearm. The argument escalated, leading to an exchange of gunfire that resulted in Boykin's death. His family remembers him as a man who was actively trying to improve his life.
In the wake of the shooting, four teenagers were arrested and faced serious charges. The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Kimauri Farmer, 17-year-old Joshawia Davis, 16-year-old Messiah Satterwhite, and 15-year-old Marquez Chambers. Farmer and Davis were noted as being high school football players. The group was later indicted on multiple felony charges, including two counts of murder, criminal attempt to commit a felony, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. An indictment alleged that the teenagers had attempted to rob Boykin of his own gun at gunpoint.
