Sam Johnson, a 53-year-old male from Houston, Texas, tragically lost his life on October 16, 2017. He was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire of a gang-related shooting. The incident occurred in the 6800 block of London Street in southeast Houston, where Johnson was walking when he was fatally shot. The shooting was part of a larger crime spree that included a carjacking and multiple shootings.
The suspects involved in the shooting were members of the 103 gang, a notorious
group in Houston. Deandre Watson, a 24-year-old gang member, was identified as the shooter who fired at least 27 rounds from an AR-15 assault rifle. Watson, along with three other gang members, targeted a rival gang, the Young Scott Block , in a drive-by shooting. Unfortunately, Johnson was in the wrong place at the wrong time and became a victim of this senseless violence.
The investigation led to multiple arrests. Deandre Watson was charged with murder and sentenced to life in prison. Other suspects, including Metroy Harris and Marcus Christopher, were also arrested and charged with murder and engaging in organized criminal activity. The case was investigated by the Houston Police Department and prosecuted by the Organized Crime and Gangs Division of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
