In the pre-dawn hours of October 14, 2024, the life of Gregory Martez 'Marty' Patton, a 34-year-old Black/African American male from Douglasville, Georgia, was tragically cut short. The fatal encounter unfolded around 2:30 a.m. in the Thomas Homes community on 6th Street in Carrollton. Responding to a 911 call about a person shot, Carrollton Police officers discovered Patton suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical aid rendered at the scene and his subsequent transport to Tanner Medical Center, Patton succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting swiftly pointed to a suspect. Later that same day, law enforcement arrested 26-year-old Quantrevion Desean Caldwell of Carrollton. Caldwell was subsequently charged with the murder of Gregory Patton.
