On October 14, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in Carrollton, Georgia, resulting in the death of 34-year-old Gregory Martez "Marty" Patton. The incident took place in the early morning hours, around 2:30 a.m., in the Thomas Homes community of Carrollton. Police responded to a 911 call on 6th Street, where they found Patton suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical aid, Patton was transported to Tanner Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
