In the early evening of November 25, 2019, a discovery was made in Lexington, Kentucky, that would mark another tragedy in the city's growing list of homicides. Abed Kadah, a 19-year-old male from Corona, California, was found slumped over inside a vehicle in the 3500 block of Laredo Drive. Officers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 7 p.m. after receiving a report about a person down.
Upon their arrival, police found that Kadah had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal. The Fayette County Coroner's office pronounced him dead at 7:44 p.m. that same evening. An autopsy was pending to officially determine the cause of death, though the multiple gunshots were the clear source of the mortal wounds.
The investigation into the shooting began immediately. A witness at the scene reported seeing an individual dressed entirely in black fleeing from the vehicle after the gunshots were fired. Despite this initial lead, the suspect was not immediately found, and the case has remained open. The Lexington Police Department has continued to investigate, urging anyone with information to come forward and offering avenues for anonymous tips through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the death of Abed Kadah.
