Seventeen-year-old Darrico Weir, a Black/African American male from Jonesboro, Georgia, was shot in the head on the evening of Saturday, July 19, 2025, while doing yard work at a home on the 700 block of Villa Way just outside the Jonesboro city limits. Officers responded around 8 p.m. and found Darrico Weir unresponsive; he was rushed to the hospital, where, according to the medical examiner and his family, Darrico Weir died on Sunday.
