In the late hours of a rainy Saturday, April 22, 2017, the sound of gunfire pierced the night on Lundy Lane in Jonesboro, Georgia. When Clayton County police responded to the scene around 10:45 p.m., they discovered the bodies of two young men lying in the middle of the street. Both had been shot and were pronounced dead at the scene. One of the victims was identified as 22-year-old Ronald Triche III of Fayetteville, Georgia. The other man was 26-year-old Nikko Sepulveda of Jonesboro.
Ronald, a male student at Atlanta Metro College, had aspirations of becoming a psychiatrist. Remembered for his 'million-dollar smile,' he was an active young man who enjoyed chess, football, and basketball, with a particular passion for wrestling. After a successful high school wrestling career where he placed at the state level and continued to wrestle in college, he became a certified referee for high school matches in Georgia. His family described him as energetic and a positive influence on his younger brother.
The investigation into the double homicide began, but initially, police had no suspects and the motive for the shooting was unknown. The families of both victims made emotional pleas for anyone with information to come forward. Ronald's mother, in a message to the perpetrator, stated, 'you will be caught, because you messed with the wrong son this time.'
A few months later, in July 2017, the Clayton County Police Department announced they wanted to question a person of interest in connection with the murders. They released a photo of an 18-year-old man known by the street name 'Lil Haiti,' who was later identified as Justin Logan. Investigators believed Logan frequented the area of the shooting and might have been with another individual known as 'Fat Daddy.' A reward was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. However, there have been no publicly available updates on whether Justin Logan was ever located, questioned, or if any arrests were made in the years following the initial investigation. The case of who killed Ronald Triche III and Nikko Sepulveda remains without a publicly announced resolution.
