In the early morning hours of May 21, 2025, a dispute in the parking lot of a Jonesboro, Georgia nightclub tragically escalated, ending the life of 22-year-old Jaden DeShaun Pierce. The fatal encounter unfolded just after 3 a.m. outside the Skyboxx ATL, a sports bar located at 2180 Mount Zion Parkway in Clayton County.
An argument involving Jaden Pierce and two other men, later identified as 18-year-old Xavier Pickett and 27-year-old Teon Smith, turned violent. The confrontation led to a robbery and ultimately, the shooting death of Pierce. He was found mortally wounded in the parking lot and succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators quickly identified Pickett and Smith as the suspects in the homicide. Xavier Pickett was apprehended and taken into custody, booked at the Clayton County Jail where he awaits trial. Teon Smith, however, remained at large for several months. Law enforcement officials issued a plea to the public for assistance in locating him, offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his capture. Smith was wanted on multiple charges, including murder, theft by taking, and robbery by sudden snatching.
After a period of searching, Teon Smith eventually turned himself in to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office in October 2025 and was booked into jail. Both he and Xavier Pickett face charges in connection with the death of Jaden Pierce. Funeral services for Jaden were held in early June 2025, as his family and community mourned the loss of a young life cut short by violence.
