In the fading light of a Friday afternoon in Jonesboro, Georgia, the life of Corey Brooks, a 31-year-old African American male, was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On December 2, 2022, Brooks and a friend had just pulled into the Pointe South Shopping Center on Highway 85. As they sat in their SUV, a man approached the vehicle and opened fire, striking Brooks multiple times. His friend, who was also in the vehicle, was not injured in the attack.
