In the quiet town of Jonesboro, Georgia, a heartbreaking incident unfolded involving a two-year-old boy named Jah'me Butler. The young male child's life was tragically cut short on November 15, 2018. On that day, while his father, Johnathan Butler, was asleep, Jah'me is believed to have found a handgun that was kept under a pillow in the bed. It is reported that the toddler accidentally discharged the weapon, inflicting a fatal wound upon himself.
The authorities were called to the home on Blackhawk Trail around noon to investigate the shooting. When they arrived, they were met with a devastating scene. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The Clayton County police investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting. While the father was questioned, initial reports indicated that no charges were expected to be filed in what was described as a tragic and unfortunate accident. A candlelight vigil was held by friends and family to honor the memory of the young boy.
In a separate and unrelated case in the same town, a 15-year-old male named Jcori Butler was fatally shot. The incident that led to his death began on the afternoon of October 29, when a planned meeting for the sale and purchase of guns and drugs went awry. A fight broke out among two groups of young people on Magnolia Drive, and during the altercation, Jcori was shot.
His family attempted to rush him to the hospital, but their vehicle was intercepted by Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services, who then transported him to a trauma center in Atlanta. Despite medical efforts, Jcori Butler passed away from his injuries on December 8. The investigation into his death led to the identification and arrest of multiple suspects. Among those charged with felony murder are Aaron Bell III, Jacora Butler, who is reportedly Jcori's sister, and Jailen Johnson. Two other teenagers, aged 15 and 17 at the time of their alleged involvement, also face felony murder charges. Additionally, Aaron Bell Jr., the 47-year-old father of one of the suspects, was charged with tampering with evidence and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. After the initial arrests, Jacora Butler and Jailen Johnson, who had outstanding warrants, turned themselves in to the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.
