In a tragic turn of events stemming from a prearranged meeting for a sale of drugs and a weapon, 15-year-old Jcori George Bop Butler, a male from Jonesboro, Georgia, was fatally shot. The incident unfolded on October 29, 2022, on Magnolia Drive, where Butler and several others had gathered for the illicit transaction. An argument erupted during the exchange, escalating quickly into gunfire that left the teenager critically wounded. His family attempted to rush him to a nearby hospital, but their vehicle was intercepted by Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services, who then transported him to a trauma center in Atlanta. Despite medical efforts, Jcori Butler succumbed to his injuries on December 8, 2022.
The subsequent investigation by the Clayton County Police Department led to the identification of several suspects involved in the fatal shooting. Among those charged was the victim's own 18-year-old sister, Jacora Butler. Initially, authorities sought her and 20-year-old Jailen Johnson, who were both wanted on charges of felony murder and use of a communication device during the commission of a felony.
