In a tragic turn of events on a Saturday afternoon, a visit to his children proved to be the final moments for Troris Murphy. The 40-year-old man was fatally shot on January 20, 2018, in Jonesboro, Georgia. The incident unfolded at the Riverwood Townhouses located on Flint River Road in Clayton County, where Murphy had gone to spend time with his children.
According to police reports, an altercation occurred between Murphy and the mother of his children. It is alleged that during this dispute, Murphy physically assaulted the woman. In response to the assault, the woman's live-in boyfriend, Ernest Watson, intervened and shot Murphy multiple times.
When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene at approximately 3:45 p.m., they discovered Murphy lying in the yard with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Atlanta Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Following the shooting, Ernest Watson was located and arrested at a nearby gas station. He was subsequently charged with felony murder, cruelty to children, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon in connection with the death of Troris Murphy. Murphy was born on December 6, 1977, in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a father to a son and a daughter.
