A 34-year-old woman, Lisa West, was tragically shot and killed in her Colorado Springs apartment on May 13, 2025, in an incident that began as a reported burglary and quickly escalated into a homicide investigation. Her boyfriend, 36-year-old Kevin Wells, was arrested in connection with her death and is facing a first-degree murder charge. The chain of events leading to the discovery of West’s body and the subsequent arrest of Wells unfolded over a frantic few hours, revealing a story of
domestic turmoil that ended in violence.
The tragic day began with a 911 call from a number associated with Kevin Wells, reporting that someone was attempting to break into his apartment at the Mountain Shadows Apartments. Wells claimed that his girlfriend, Lisa West, was inside the residence at the time. However, when police arrived and made an emergency entry into the apartment, they found West deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. The initial report of a burglary had taken a dark and unexpected turn, and the focus of the investigation shifted to finding Wells.
As law enforcement began their search, two crucial calls came into the 911 dispatch center. One was from Wells's father, who informed police that his son had confessed to killing his girlfriend. The second call came from Wells's boss, who reported receiving a text message from Wells admitting to the shooting. In a conversation with his father, a distraught Wells allegedly stated that he had 'messed up' and that his 'life was over.' He explained that he and West had gotten into an argument that morning, and when she refused to leave the apartment, he shot her.
With this information, authorities were able to track Wells's location by pinging his phone. He was found on the south side of Pueblo, where the Colorado State Patrol took him into custody without incident. Wells is currently being held in the El Paso County Jail without bond. He made his first court appearance on May 21, 2025.
Lisa West, also known as Lisa Seiling-West, was born on November 26, 1990, in Massachusetts. She is survived by her daughter, as well as her parents, siblings, and other family members. A memorial service was held for her in Manchester, Tennessee.
