In the quiet community just north of Colorado Springs, a devastating tragedy unfolded, leaving a family shattered and a community in mourning. On October 30, 2021, 13-year-old Felicity Kreb, a female of Asian descent, was found dead in her home in what authorities would later describe as a murder-suicide. Her life, along with those of her mother and younger brother, was cut short in an act of violence that defied understanding.

The grim discovery was made after a distressing 911 call from one of the younger children in the home, reporting that someone was seriously injured. When deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office arrived at the residence on Pleier Drive, they were met with a horrific scene. Inside, they found the bodies of Felicity, her 50-year-old mother Yvette Siegert-Kreb, and her 9-year-old brother, Barrett Kreb.

The investigation quickly identified the suspect as the family patriarch, 55-year-old Christof Kreb. It was determined that Christof had fatally shot his wife and two of their children before turning the gun on himself. As the perpetrator took his own life, no arrests were made in connection with the triple homicide.

The Kreb family was well-known and active in their community. Both Christof and Yvette were military veterans. Yvette was a retired neonatal intensive care unit nurse, and Christof was a co-owner of a local gun shop. The couple had a large family of eight children, many of whom were adopted and had special needs. Felicity had been adopted from China. Friends and family were left grappling with the shock and searching for answers in the wake of the tragedy. While some close to the family mentioned that the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic and other stressors had taken a toll, no one could have predicted such a violent outcome. In the aftermath, the surviving children were placed in the care of close family friends, and the community rallied around them, offering support and setting up fundraisers to help with their future needs.
