In the late summer evening of August 13, 2025, the life of Demetrice Darnell Beverly, a 39-year-old male, was brought to a tragic and abrupt end in Birmingham, Alabama. A respected figure in his community, Beverly was known affectionately as 'Meat' and was a proud alumnus of A.H. Parker High School, where he had returned as a beloved assistant football coach. On that fateful Wednesday night, events unfolded at the Lakeshore Ridge apartment complex in the Sand Ridge neighborhood. Beverly was visiting a female friend when her boyfriend, 23-year-old De'Corlion Keshaun Robinson, arrived at the apartment. A confrontation ensued, culminating in Robinson allegedly shooting Beverly multiple times. Officers who responded to a 911 call around 9 p.m. found Beverly unresponsive in a bedroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 9:26 p.m.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement officers located and apprehended Robinson in the parking lot of the apartment complex. He was subsequently arrested and charged with murder and unlawful possession of a machine gun conversion device. Robinson was booked into the Jefferson County Jail and was initially held without bond. However, a bond was later set at $165,000.
