On August 30, 2014, Briana Brooks, a 21-year-old African American woman who was seven months pregnant, was abducted alongside her fiancé, 23-year-old Jeronta Brown, in Decatur, Georgia. The couple had just returned to a relative’s home with their 8-month-old daughter and Jeronta’s teenage sister when they were confronted by masked men. Jeronta instructed his sister to flee with the baby, which she successfully did, but Briana and Jeronta were forced into a van by the assailants.
