In the quiet suburbs of Decatur, Georgia, a tragedy unfolded on the evening of September 20, 2025, that cut short the life of 36-year-old Anna Scott. A woman with a deep passion for animals, she was an aspiring animal health practitioner, a path she had pursued with dedication, earning a degree in Animal Sciences from Oklahoma State University and working at a local veterinary clinic. As she pulled her Jeep up to her front porch, interrupting the burglary, one of the intruders opened fire on her vehicle. When police arrived, they found her Jeep just inches from the porch, riddled with bullet holes, and Scott inside with a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries.

The man taken into custody was identified as 33-year-old Marquel Heard. He was charged with felony murder and criminal attempt to commit burglary and is awaiting extradition back to DeKalb County. While one arrest has been made, the search for the two remaining suspects continues, with police releasing new images from a nearby business in their ongoing effort to bring all those responsible for Anna Scott's death to justice.
