James Gruey, 54, male, Caucasian/White, was working a Sunday night shift as a security guard when gunfire cut across the quiet around the Dr. William U. Pearson Community Center in Las Vegas. Near 11:30 p.m. on April 18, 2010, while patrolling the grounds at 1625 West Carey Avenue, witnesses said three men confronted him outside and opened fire, striking him multiple times before speeding away into the dark.
