In the early morning hours of September 3, 2021, Tovoris Jackson, a 36-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the 900 block of East Twain Avenue, near South University Center Drive.
According to the investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department, Mr. Jackson was inside an apartment when another man asked him to step outside. Complying with the request, Mr.
Jackson went outside where he was shot by the unidentified man. The assailant then fled the scene.
Emergency services were called, and Mr. Jackson was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead. The Clark County coroner's office later confirmed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the arm and chest, and his death was officially ruled a homicide.
As of the initial reports following the incident, the gunman had not been apprehended and no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting. Law enforcement officials have not publicly identified any suspects in the ongoing investigation into the death of Tovoris Jackson.
