Enrique Nunez, a 17-year-old Hispanic/Latino male, was fatally shot on September 1, 2023, inside a west Las Vegas apartment located on Charleston Boulevard near Rainbow Boulevard. Although shot on September 1st, he was removed from life support and passed away on September 5, 2023. An obituary confirms his passing on September 4, 2023, and remembers him as a loving son, father, brother, and friend.
The shooting was reportedly the culmination of a planned robbery.
Investigators believe the motive was connected to a prior incident on August 7, 2023, where Nunez was allegedly involved in the robbery of a 7-Eleven employee, from which a significant amount of money was taken. It is suggested that one of the suspects, Cameron Raye, felt that Nunez should have shared the proceeds from the robbery with the group, leading to a physical altercation between them in August. On the day of the fatal shooting, Raye's alleged intention was to rob Nunez.
Following an investigation, several arrests were made in connection with Enrique Nunez's murder. The suspects include 19-year-old Cameron Raye, 16-year-old Jomario Clark Jr., 17-year-old Jacorey Magdaleno, and 30-year-old Gregory Leonard. Raye, Clark, and Magdaleno are facing charges of open murder, assault, conspiracy to commit robbery, and burglary. Gregory Leonard faces charges of open murder, conspiracy to commit murder, burglary, and robbery. According to police reports, Leonard allegedly ordered the attack on Nunez. The case is part of a broader investigation into a series of violent crimes in the Las Vegas area, with some of the individuals allegedly being part of a group known as the "Block Boy Gang".
